Tips for Choosing a Wedding Invitation
Although it may seem like an easy task at first, your wedding invitation is the first glimpse of your dream day. Together with thank you cards, table signs, seating charts, boutonnieres and the overall venue decor, it helps create one cohesive story for your wedding.
COLORS
Are soft blush tones, gentle greens, eucalyptus leaves or a specific flower variety the stars of your wedding look? Bring some of those elements onto the invitation as well so the entire visual identity feels connected.
SHAPES
Rectangular and square invitations are classic staples, but if you want something beyond a traditional card in an envelope, you can roll them up or wrap them in vellum and seal everything with a wax stamp. If wax does not match your theme, satin, silk or frayed ribbons in the right colors can create the same special feel.
WORDING
We always remind our clients that the font on the invitation must be easy to read. Rich calligraphy is beautiful when you want to highlight names, the date or certain key words, and that is exactly where we recommend using it. For the rest of the text, we choose a style that fits both you and your wedding aesthetic, while still keeping the invitation pleasant to read. If you are unsure what to write, we can also send wording suggestions that fit the design best.
QUANTITY
We always suggest ordering a few extra pieces. Printing a very small additional batch later is possible, but it is usually a more expensive option. Group guests by household or couple and send one invitation per family or pair instead of counting one invitation per person.
